Wave Goodbye To Threats - A Guide To Surfing The Internet Safely

The internet can be considered as a newly added essential in life. Almost everyone uses the internet to work, watch videos, or even communicate with loved ones across the globe. However with the number of hacks, scams, and threats consistently multiplying, the internet may not be the safest place.

Carelessly surfing the web may not only lead to viruses, but can also cause personal information (login information, embarrassing pictures, contact details) to get leaked. Here are some things to keep in mind to surf the internet safely.

Be selective with what information you disclose on the internet. Dont share any information unless its necessary, and on a legitimate website. It isnt always mandatory to provide personal information, so dont be quick to provide it. Disclosing this information can possibly lead to hackers figuring out the login info for your accounts.

Set your passwords to be strong and complex. Including unique characters and longer sets will decrease the chances of people guessing the accounts login.

Its important to create complicated passwords for important accounts, since the number of hackers breaking into corporate databases is on the rise. If the passwords are hard to memorize, using a trusted password manager application would be a big help.

Remain mindful when choosing which websites to visit. Cyber attackers will attempt to bait people into visiting their risky websites through mischievous content. They know what people search for, and will use that temptation to creep into their devices to expose personal data, or to infect the device with security threats.

Choose which applications to download. If the application itself looks sketchy, dont risk the chance of accidentally exposing yourself to malware. Many applications are disguised as games, wallpaper editors, and weather applications to name a few.

Only shop from safe and authentic websites. Shopping online requires financial information from the customer to proceed with checkout. This is what a majority of hackers love to come across.

Cyber criminals may also try to trick people by creating fake duplicate websites of legitimate companies. To ensure you're on a real website, make sure the start of the web address begins with "https" instead of "http," indicating that the website uses encryption to prevent others from accessing your data.

Post with caution. The unfortunate thing about the internet is that it's impossible to remove all copies of an unwanted comments, pictures, or status since other people might have saved copies. If you wouldnt want a family member or a future employer to see something, its best to keep it to yourself.

Keep your security software updated. Antivirus programs can only do so much as to detect most malware and virus problems. Different types of threats are created daily, and security software companies often provide updates to stop unwelcome people from getting access to your devices.

The internet is entertaining, convenient, and educational, considering everything that you want or need is on there. That doesnt mean you should be careless with browsing certain websites, and revealing personal information. Practicing good internet conduct by following the mentioned tips can prevent any unwanted situation.

Internet Tv Trumps Traditional Tv

Television has always been a favorite pass time, since its introduction to living rooms decades ago. First came the radio that gave excitement to our ears, then those funny square TVs with rabbit ears. It gave excitement to our ears and eyes, as it does today. Most people had no idea what would come next but as technology advanced, many new things occurred that enhanced our TV viewing.

Technology has brought us many kinds of streaming devices, the Internet and it made faster. What started with videos and number of video websites, like YouTube that stream them, ended up with on-demand and live TV. As time went on, companies began to figure out how to monetize their content online when streaming popular television shows, movies, sports and news broadcasts online.

Today, we can WatchTvOnline as easy as watching TV offline. For a long time, cable and satellite TV ruled TV land. As these companies grew larger and continued increasing their subscription fees, more customer issues ensued. Internet TV became the competition that led to cable and satellite TV companies to take a step back and stream their content online for subscribers to watch.

As more TV viewers caught on to the Internet TV, they noticed price differences, savings, free and low-cost streaming TV, including a la carte TV. This came without losing favorite television programs theyve grown accustom to watching over the years.

Because of the Internet TV phenomenon, many have cancelled cable and satellite TV, while others are thinking about doing the same. This is because cost-savings and not having to opt into a contract are appealing. Theres more content to choose from thats totally free to watch online, or low-cost. TV viewers can pick and choose how they want to WatchTvOnline, including when and where.

Thanks to the Internet and broadband, TV viewers can watch television on the go via portable devices. Thus, watching TV online has more bang for the money and causing many more subscribers to cut cable and ditch dish satellite.

As it stands today, any person, from all walks of life, can now watch Live TV, Local TV, Global TV, Sports TV, VOD Movies, and VOD TV Shows online, without the likes of cable or satellite. Paying $90 or more per month compared to $30 or less makes sense to go Internet. Many would say giving up high cost, convenience and the remote wasnt hard to do. When it came down to saving big without losing favorite TV channels/networks, many have been satisfied with the outcome.

Any Internet-connected device with a web browser can be used to watch TV online. Computers are among the favorites to use. Many viewers are learning how to connect a computer to TV and how to watch live TV online. And they are coming to realize, a cable or satellite TV subscription is not required to watch local OTA (Over-the-Air) TV. An indoor HDTV antenna will do the job and deliver crystal clear picture that trumps cable and satellite.

With households having a wifi network, smart TV, with or without a web browser and smart phone, people can easily connect all these devices. This allows viewers to watch television online however they choose. But the greatest benefit to using the Internet is access to unlimited content to watch. This includes the freedom to pick and choose to watch whatever is of interest.

This offers the ability to decide what TV programs and networks to pay for. And not some bundled, pre-determined TV package, that includes many channels you dont want to watch and pay. Internet TV trumps traditional TV because viewers have total control and access to global content to watch over the Internet. No matter what country or language, whether its live sports, movies, news or TV shows, can watch it online.

A D S Devises Innovative Cart Tech For Online Ordering

What's so significant about developing an online shopping cart for marketing ductwork pieces on the net? Anyone that works with ducting components will certainly tell you, it's surprisingly quite tough to do, since there is an unbelievable variety of ductwork parts dimensions, as well as every one has a specific sales price.

Common measurement variables consist of specific diameters, lengths, and angles and all these variances mean that regular online shopping carts aren't able to manage the large quantity of variables, without resorting to showing the same item again and again, with the only variant being the dimension, which renders using the online store into something which is frustrating and cumbersome for somebody browsing the list of products.

What follows here is an example of what we mean:

Let's just say you intended to acquire a piece of straight, standard galvanised duct, which is a fairly simple item, however the variety of length and also diameter permutations is quite substantial. Firstly there is the duct length. Typical galvanized ducting comes in three popular lengths:

- 0.5 of a meter, - 1 meter and also - 2 meters.

Next we should consider the wide variety of diameters the item comes in, in this example we'll use the most common diameters, which are as follows below:

- 80mm, - 100mm, - 125mm, - 140mm, - 150mm, - 160mm, - 180mm, - 200mm, - 225mm, - 250mm, - 275mm, - 300mm, - 350 mm and also - 400mm.

As you can see, this means we have 3 various sizes and also 14 different diameters, so to assemble an e-commerce shopping cart just for straight galvanized duct, it would entail 42 specific catalogue units. Which is just for straight galvanised ducting! There's a plethora of other pieces individuals making use of galvanised ductwork could also need, like lobsterback bends, branch parts, telescopic ductwork, ductwork that has a door opening, rings, gaskets, gates, valves, sweeps ... the list goes on, and furthermore every one of these also has a variation of diameters, lengths and sometimes other variables, like angles.

You may find yourself wondering about existing e-commerce sites on the market that already accommodate products with variables like shoes and clothing for instance, which can vary both sizes and colors and yes that's true, but when the colour or size of a pair of shoes is changed the price doesn't need to change along with it, and that's what's different in the range of ducting products, every different size corresponds to a different price and this is the complexity that the average online store doesn't manage very well.

envisage being a customer seeking to explore a shopping cart for ducting online to select as well as buy the ducting pieces that you must have to produce a full ductwork fitting? Exactly how unfriendly and complicated would it be to attempt to navigate a myriad of different ductwork parts, all with ranging diameters and lengths?

This complicated selection of variables has made online transactions for ducting items irksome as well as time consuming! But not from now on, due to Advanced Duct Systems (ADS) have just recently addressed this pickle by establishing a custom-made web-based store where a purchaser need simply just visit one particular component page to pick any variable for that piece from a drop down list, as well as have the prices for any kind of medley of variables update real-time in the web page on the shopping cart.

This makes on-line searching and buying as easy as pie, as you can now simplybuy many different diameters as well as lengths from the one page! You can also download full specs from the online cart as a pdf from the same page.

So if youan operator in a firm which needs to get duct components, take into consideration the expedience of choosing Advanced Duct Systems to order your goods online. Orders are delivered right to their 'pick and pack' properties and you receive an order verification sent out by email. No more faxing or dialling through orders including the risk of "you asked for one thing they heard another" bungles in orders is avoided.

Advanced Duct Systems offers standard galvanised duct, pneumatic tubing, powder coated ducting, pneumatic conveying duct systems, stainless-steel ducting and flex ductwork online, from the world's easiest to use online store for acquiring ductwork. Check it out the next time you want to buy duct items. Also remember, trade and wholesale purchasers can access discount prices by being granted a designated code which presents them with wholesale costings.

How the Internet Impacts HealthCare

As technology keeps on improving every day, it has touched on every aspect of our lives. Healthcare has become even better thanks to internet technology and there are several reasons to prove so.

The Internet has become a main source of medical information

According to the Pew Internet and American Life Project, in a 2004 survey of 8 million seniors who use the internet, only 66% said they searched healthcare information online. In 2009 24 million Americans reported the same.

It goes without saying that more and more people are using the Internet to research their medical issues. This means not only looking up symptoms, but exploring treatments and medicines on the web. While it is never a good idea to skip out on the doctor completely, the Internet has made patients more empowered to make decisions about what to do next.

Social media is an interactive media and it is not limited to friendships and relationships. Hospitals are now interacting with patients through social media. They can discuss or even listen to different health topics.

HOSPITALS ARE USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO REACH PATIENTS

Hospitals are catching on to this trend and implementing programs to promote the use of social media. They can use it to manage their reputation through referrals and reviews and to brand themselves as providers of reliable information to consumers. According to an article by Med City, more than 1,500 hospitals in the U.S. use social media in some format. 2

Sites like YouTube, Facebook and Foursquare (where users check in at different locations) are some examples. Facebook seems to be the favorite, and hospitals use this social media outlet to reach prospective patients or post reviews about patients’ experiences there. Some hospitals are getting creative with how they reach their community. The Mayo Clinic has more than 76,000 listeners to its podcast. Different subjects are discussed in a format for people to download and listen to on their own time, which is appealing to many people who might be curious about different diseases, new advancements in health care, or human interest pieces about people experiencing different health issues. The Mayo Clinic is one example of an institution that offers advice and expertise from health care professionals for free. All of the doctors there are encouraged to take part in using social media.

It is also important to note that this technology has facilitated the easier sharing of medical images and records. This has made medical transfers easy especially where critical conditions are involved.

Sharing neuroimaging may be the next significant advancement in telemedicine. Having images of the nervous system can be very important in some patients’ cases, and those images should always go along with that patient’s medical record. That way, other doctors who treat him or her at a later date will have what they need to make a comprehensive diagnosis. Medical record software can make it quite a bit easier to send, store, and receive information about patients, as well.

With those records can come a medical image transfer, so all the images and information can go with the patient. Having records sent through the mail from a doctor or hospital often takes a lot of time, but sharing via medical imaging software is an excellent way to get records quickly. When treating a patient in an emergency, making sure records can be transferred fast can be vital. It could potentially mean the difference between life and death.

Color-coding sensor: Nanostructures for contactless control

Chemists at Ludwig-Maximilians-Univeristaet (LMU) in Munich have fabricated a novel nanosheet-based photonic crystal that changes color in response to moisture. The new material could form the basis for humidity-sensitive contactless control of interactive screens on digital devices. LMU chemists have developed a photonic crystal from ultrathin nanosheets which are extremely sensitive to moisture. "These photonic nanostructures change color in response to variations in local humidity. This makes them ideal candidates for the development of novel user interfaces for touchless devices," says Professor Bettina Lotsch of the Department of Chemistry at LMU and the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart. The new sensing platform is described in the journal "Advanced Materials." "The humidity around a fingertip is slightly higher than the overall level of moisture in the ambient air," explains Katalin Szendrei, a member of Prof. Lotsch's research group. "This difference can be detected by our photonic sensor, and causes it to change color -- without any contact with the nearby fingertip." It is this extreme sensitivity to local moisture that makes the nanostructure so interesting for use in "touchless"-screens. "Contactless control is a particularly attractive option for next-generation positioning interfaces such as ticket machines or cash dispensers, which are used by hundreds of customers each day. In this case, touchless navigation has obvious advantages with respect to hygiene," says Szendrei, pointing to one potential application for the new device. Unparalleled sensitivity and response time Photonic crystals are periodically arranged nanostructures which have the ability to reflect, guide and confine light. They are also found in the biological world, where examples include mother-of-pearl and the iridescent wing-scales of certain butterflies, such as the shimmering Morpho butterflies of the Amazon Basin. Lotsch and her team have now developed photonic crystals based on nanosheets of phosphatoantimonic acid. The new nanomaterial is extremely moisture sensitive and at the same time chemically stable, transparent and easy to fabricate into nanosheets. In comparison with other vapor sensors based on nanosheets, the new photonic architecture displays markedly increased response times, higher sensitivity and long-term stability. "This unique combination of properties enables it to track and color-code finger movements in real time," says Pirmin Ganter, who also works in Bettina Lotsch's group. In addition, the new system is stable on exposure to air, and therefore functions not just under controlled conditions in the laboratory but also in the constantly varying environment of the real world. Lotsch and her collaborators have already applied for patent protection for the novel device and, together with the Fraunhofer EMFT in Munich, they are already working on a prototype screen which, in addition to providing for color-coding, will also be equipped with an electronic readout capability.
